Multimodal Hacks: build the interface for agents

On June 6, 2026, join Forever 22, Google DeepMind, Pinecone, LangChain, and Betaworks for a full-day, hands-on hackathon focused on one idea: the interface layer for AI agents is expanding far beyond the command line.

We’re bringing together engineers, designers, and builders working across agents, LLMs, voice, generative media, developer tools, and real-time experiences to prototype the next generation of agent interfaces.

Whether you’re building voice-first agents, multimodal copilots, creative tools, workflow assistants, or new ways for people to interact with AI, this is a space to build something ambitious, useful, and demo-ready in a single day.

You’ll spend the day building alongside other top builders, with support from Google DeepMind, LangChain, Pinecone, Betaworks, and more. Expect speaker sessions, sponsor activations, an AMA, hacking time, demos, food, and prizes.

We’ll have up to five submission categories — and five winning teams.

Teams of up to 3 people. To keep things fair and fresh, all projects must be started from scratch on the day of the hackathon.

We’re accepting people on a rolling basis.

This event is part of #NYTechWeek— a week of events hosted by startups and VCs bringing together the tech ecosystem.

12:20 PM – 12:50 PM
Inflection Points for Tools for Thinking
What are the key inflection points that will supercharge Tools for Thinking in the near future? How will new technologies, user metaphors, and funding models change how people build these tools? John Borthwick will be discussing how the landscape is changing with the co-founders of Readwise, Daniel Doyon & Tristan Homsi.
12:50 PM – 1:00 PM
Q+A
1:00 PM – 1:15 PM

Idea Dimensionality and Representing Semantic Meaning
How do ideas - and the human brains that make and hold them - interact?  Get prepared for meta! Esther Dyson and Jerry Michalski, will discuss the idea of how people work together to shape, compare, intertwine and ultimately produce multi-faceted ideas and multi-dimensional idea spaces.  As David Waltz (Thinking Machines) once said, “Words are not in themselves carriers of meaning, but merely pointers to shared understanding.” Watch and lob questions as the two of them try to build and share the idea of how better ideas can be developed through collaboration.
