Uservoice is the newest addition to the betaworks network. We participated in the financing, as announced today in various places, along with our friends at Baseline, Founders Fund/McClure, TAG/Saul & Robin Klein, David Shen, Howard Lindzon, etc. At TheDeal.com Mary Kathleen Flynn quotes me as saying “We were customers of UserVoice long before we were investors” which is an important point. We started using Uservoice for both bitly and Chartbeat many months ago, and were getting so much value from it that we contacted Richard and Marcus directly.
But aside from being customers, Uservoice hits a number of the themes that we believe fundamentally change the media, the online media, world. Specifically, businesses that add context (or structure) to unstructured information or data (in this case user feedback) and the social web (services that connect people and data). Being a customer of Uservoice gave us a direct connection with users who had relevant feedback for us. And it did so in a way that organized that information for us. Betaworks is a happy customer, and now a happy partner.
